Berlin, the Capital of Germany
Berlin is the capital and the largest city of Germany. It is famous for its history, modern art, and music. A very important monument is the Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor).
« Berlin is a vibrant and historical city. »
⚠️ Attention
In English, we say 'Berlin', not 'Berlín'. Pay attention to the pronunciation: /bɜːrˈlɪn/.
You can visit the Berlin Wall Memorial to learn about the city's past. Today, the city is known for its cool techno music and street art.
Vienna (Wien), the Heart of Austria
Vienna, or Wien, is the capital of Austria. It is a very elegant city, known for its classical music, palaces, and cakes! The composer Mozart lived here.
« Vienna is famous for its coffee houses and the Sachertorte. »
You can visit the Schönbrunn Palace, a beautiful castle with big gardens. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the best in the world.
German and Austrian Traditions
These countries have fun and famous traditions. Many are about food, drink, and celebrating together.
« Oktoberfest is a huge beer festival in Munich, Germany. »
⚠️ Attention
Oktoberfest starts in September! The name is a bit confusing.
Another great tradition is the Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt). In December, towns have beautiful markets with lights, gifts, and hot drinks like Glühwein (mulled wine) for adults and hot chocolate for children.
