Mexico : Colorful Traditions

Mexico is famous for its vibrant culture. A very important celebration is the 'Day of the Dead' (Día de los Muertos) on November 1st and 2nd. Families build altars with photos, flowers (like marigolds), and food to remember their loved ones.

« During the Day of the Dead, people eat 'pan de muerto', a special sweet bread. »

Mexican food is popular worldwide. Tacos, guacamole (made from avocados), and spicy sauces are delicious examples.

⚠️ Attention

Remember: 'Mexico' is the country in English. 'Mexican' is the adjective (Mexican food, Mexican culture).

Argentina : Tango and Vast Plains

Argentina, in South America, is known for the tango dance and music. This passionate dance originated in Buenos Aires, the capital city.

« Argentinians love 'asado', a traditional barbecue with lots of meat. »

In the countryside, there are huge plains called 'pampas' where 'gauchos' (cowboys) raise cattle. A popular drink is 'mate', a bitter herbal tea shared with friends.

Colombia : Music and Coffee

Colombia is a country with diverse landscapes, from beaches to mountains. It is one of the world's largest producers of coffee. Colombian coffee is famous for its high quality.

« The most popular Colombian rhythm is 'cumbia'. People dance to it during festivals like the 'Carnaval de Barranquilla'. »

A famous Colombian dish is 'bandeja paisa'. It's a large plate with beans, rice, meat, avocado, and a fried egg!

⚠️ Attention

The pronunciation is important: Colombia (co-LOM-bia), not Columbia.

Comparing Cultures

These three countries share the Spanish language, but their cultures are unique. Let's compare:

• Celebration: Mexico has the Day of the Dead. Argentina has vibrant tango festivals. Colombia has the colorful Carnaval de Barranquilla.

• Food: Tacos (Mexico), Asado (Argentina), Bandeja Paisa (Colombia).

• Music/Dance: Mariachi music (Mexico), Tango (Argentina), Cumbia and Salsa (Colombia).
